There's no single place where people will see it. ![]() So if the dev only uses one of those, the message doesnt get out. certainly none of them read all of these. One of the things I've noticed is that there's no clear mailing list of users for most of these projects - and most users don't read the changelog, patch notes, website, git readme, latest github issues, the google support group, the discord. I woulda been less inclined to characterize it as a "douche move" had I seen an indication of these circumstances on the Github site. I also understand legal bs around other people's code. ![]() I feel for guys who are on the receiving end of that. I know a few devs that have said "fuck it" and just stopped releasing software for hams entirely because of how toxic it can get. ![]()
